The Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa starrer saw a noticeable dip in collections on Day 8, suggesting that its theatrical run may now depend heavily on weekend footfalls.
Article: Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat entered its second week in theatres, but the romantic drama seems to be losing momentum after a fair first week. Following a decent seven-day run that brought in around ₹46 crore (net) in India, the film witnessed its first major weekday slump on Day 8.
According to early trade estimates, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat collected around ₹1.8–2 crore (net) on its eighth day, taking its total domestic collection to approximately ₹47.8–48 crore. The drop was expected, as post-weekend and second-week weekdays generally see a reduction in footfall, especially for mid-budget romantic dramas with limited word-of-mouth traction.
The film started strong on its opening day, earning ₹9 crore, driven by the Diwali holiday and star appeal. The following days maintained decent numbers — ₹7.75 crore on Day 2, ₹6 crore on Day 3, and ₹5.5 crore on Day 4. The first week ended with ₹46 crore, a respectable amount for its scale and genre.
However, as newer releases hit theatres and festive hype faded, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat began to struggle to hold screens and audience interest. While the chemistry between Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa continues to draw appreciation, the film’s predictable storyline and limited buzz have impacted its performance in its second week.
Despite the drop, the movie’s performance is not disappointing for its moderate budget. If it manages to show growth over the second weekend, it could still reach the ₹55 crore mark before concluding its theatrical run. Beyond theatres, the film is expected to find a wider audience on OTT and satellite platforms, where romantic dramas often enjoy extended popularity.
For now, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat stands at an estimated ₹48 crore in India — a fair figure. Still, the coming days will determine if it can maintain its momentum or fade amid newer releases.
