Actress Anjana Sukhani, who appeared as Meher, the outspoken, unfiltered, and energetic daughter-in-law and caregiver to Naseeruddin Shah’s dementia-stricken character, in an exclusive interview with IWMBuzz opened up on her experience working with Imtiaz Ali, the success of Main Vaapas Aaunga, and more.

During the conversation with IWMBuzz journalist Sweta Gupta, when asked if it was always a yes from her side for the role in Main Vaapas Aaunga. Anjana shared her gratitude, highlighting how one can say no to an Imtiaz Ali film, as many dream to work with him; it’s that kind of aura he has built. She clarified that when she got a call, from that moment it was a yes from her side.

Speaking on director Imtiaz Ali and his craft, Ajana quoted that everyone, whether a child, a young actor, or an elderly person, wants to work with Imtiaz Ali. Sharing her experience, she called herself lucky to get an opportunity to work with him and mentioned that he was one of the top directors on her bucket list she wanted to work with before she dies.

Opening up on the success of Main Vaapas Aaunga, Anjana credited the audience for the major part and especially Imtiaz Ali. She mentioned that every actor in the film did their best to promote the film, but Imtiaz made an exceptional contribution, as he did not just visit theatres in Mumbai but across the country. She gave entire credit for the success of the film to the director.

Speaking on old school love, Anjana called them special, but she mentioned that old school kind of love isn’t possible in today’s era because people won’t write letters in the time of social media, but he mentioned that still a few things can be carried forward, and it’s the sacrifice, longing, patience, etc.
