Veteran actor Govind Namdev, who rose to fame with his roles in movies like Oh My God, Dum Maro Dum, Bandit Queen, Viraasat, Satya, Kachche Dhaage, Mast, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, has bagged a new film. IWMBuzz.com has exclusively learnt that the actor has been roped in for Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur.

Featuring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh in pivotal roles, ‘Sam Bahadur’ revolves around the country’s first Field Marshal who was the Chief of the Army Staff during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War.

While Vicky portrays the titular role in ‘Sam Bahadur’, Badhaai Ho! actress Sanya Malhotra plays Silloo Manekshaw and Fatima Sana Sheikh will be seen as Smt Indira Gandhi.

Sam Manekshaw’s military career spanned four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and his military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh.
