The Film Federation of India (FFI) has invited filmmakers to submit their films for consideration as India’s official entry to the 99th Academy Awards (Oscars).

The announcement was made by the FFI Executive Committee during its Managing Committee meeting. The application process commenced on 4 August 2026 and will remain open until 7 September 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

Following the submission process, the FFI will constitute a jury headed by a Chairman, with senior and experienced professionals from the creative industries forming part of the panel. Following screenings of all eligible films, the jury will select the official submission via a voting process.

India’s selection for the Oscars is scheduled to be announced on 19 September 2026.

With Indian cinema continuing to gain recognition at major international film platforms, the FFI said it is looking forward to a strong and diverse participation from filmmakers this year.

“The FFI will provide all the help to the producers to have a smooth, democratic and transparent nomination process”

The federation has also encouraged producers and filmmakers to submit their films and participate in the selection process for the opportunity to represent India at the prestigious Academy Awards.

“We welcome more and more films to participate in the run to get nominated as India’s entry into Oscars this year”.

The initiative comes at a time when Indian films and filmmakers are increasingly making their presence felt on the global stage, further strengthening the country’s position in the international film and entertainment landscape.
