The phenomenon of Pan-Indian films, and the social media buzz surrounding them, has occupied a large space in conversations around Indian cinema for the past few years. Be it interviews with film personalities, talks on box office numbers, or discussions among movie buffs, the idea of Pan-Indian films has become all-pervasive. To put it in the simplest way possible, a Pan-Indian film is one that caters to the tastes and sensibilities of people and communities across the country.

‘Pan-India’ became a mantra for many movie production houses in the South. It began with Bahubali: The Beginning. With the monstrous pan-India success of films, it is proved that there is no language and regional barrier in the country. So, let’s check out the list of Pan-India films, which have or will release in multiple languages.

RRR: After the blockbuster success of Baahubali and Baahubali 2, SS Rajamouli released another pan-India blockbuster in the form of RRR. Starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, and Shriya Saran in key roles, the film was released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and other Indian and foreign languages.

Radhe Shyam: Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer romantic drama, which was directed by Radha Krishna Kumar and shot in Hindi and Telugu, was released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.

KGF2: The sequel to 2018’s period action film features Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, and Srinidhi Shetty in prominent roles and was released in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam languages.

Adipurush: The Prabhas headlined mega-budget movie, which also starred Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Saif Ali Khan, was directed by Tanhaji helmer Om Raut. The bilingual, which was shot in Telugu and Hindi, was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.

Liger: Liger, which marked the Bollywood debut of Vijay Deverakonda, was shot in Hindi and Telugu. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film was released in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam apart from its original languages. The film also featured Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan, and Ronit Roy in key roles.

Brahmastra: Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Mouni Roy, and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles, was released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.

Ponniyin Selvan: This is an epic historical fiction film made silently in 2020 by the filmmaking master Mani Ratnam. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name that is made with a whopping budget of Rs 500 crore and it will have several interesting star-cast from Kollywood playing pivotal roles. Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 is all set to hit theatres on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
