The German actor Udo Kier died at the age of 81 on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in the Eisenhower Health hospital in Palm Springs. Partner and artist Delbert McBride confirmed the death to Variety, and no cause was mentioned.
Kier’s remarkable journey over six decades saw him act in more than 275 films across horror, arthouse, and Hollywood. The serendipitous meeting on a plane with Paul Morrissey resulted in the making of the Warhol-produced gems: the bumbling Baron in Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) and Count Dracula in Blood for Dracula (1974).
Kier was the lead for nine films of Lars von Trier—Epidemic (1987) to The House That Jack Built (2018) but he got a bright light in the part of Werner Herzog’s Even Dwarfs Started Small (1970), Armageddon (1998), Blade (1998), and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995).
Kier, apart from films, voiced the psychic Yuri in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (2000) and received accolades from gamers and Hideo Kojima, who included him in the upcoming OD and hailed him.
