The Priyadarshan-directed Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles and reuniting them after 17 years, opened on a low note. Falling flat on the first day, the action thriller recorded a worldwide collection below ₹5 crore. The film earned just ₹3 crore net on Day 1 (First Friday), according to Sacnilk.
The film, also starring Boman Irani, earned the low amount on Day 1 across 7224 shows with just 11 percent occupancy. The film’s India gross stands at ₹3.60 crore. In contrast, the overseas markets also had a decent start, earning just ₹1 crore gross on Day 1. Together, the India and overseas grosses total ₹4.60 crore worldwide.
The expectations were high, but the film failed to impress audiences and received negative to mixed reactions. Despite featuring top actors, the weak premise, as we mentioned in the review, affected the overall experience.
Haiwaan failed to make its mark at the box office amid Mirzapur: The Movie and Hanuman Ansh’s wave. Both films’ collections were much higher than Akshay and Saif’s thriller, showing poor audience interest.
Now all hopes are on first-weekend (Saturday and Sunday) earnings, but overall success remains doubtful.
Haiwaan is produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, and is a remake of Priyadarshan’s own 2016 Malayalam film Oppam. Alongside Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Boman Irani, the film also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher, while Mohanlal makes a cameo appearance. The film also marks the final film appearance of Asrani, who passed away in October 2025.
