Actor Imran Khan has approached the Bombay High Court to contest a notice issued by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), directing him to leave the country by October 28. Although the actor has remained tight-lipped about the matter, his legal team from MZM Legal LLP is challenging the directive.

Lawyers Zulfiquar Memon, Parvez Memon and Chirag Naik, who are representing Imran, confirmed their plans to move the Bombay High Court on October 16 and request an urgent hearing.

According to his legal representatives, the actor has not violated any regulations governing his stay in India. They have also raised concerns over the FRRO notice, claiming that it does not clearly specify which provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, Imran is alleged to have breached.

The lawyers further argued that Imran’s status as an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder grants him certain legal rights and visa-related protections. They maintained that the authority to cancel his visa rests with the Ministry of Home Affairs and that such a decision can only be taken after giving him an opportunity to present his case at a formal hearing.

His legal team has questioned the validity of the FRRO directive, alleging that it was issued without adequately examining the relevant legal provisions or following the necessary procedures. They intend to challenge the notice on these grounds before the High Court.

Imran, who is Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s nephew, had recently taken part in a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The actor has reportedly been residing in India for more than two decades.

On the work front, Imran made his debut as a leading actor in the 2008 romantic comedy Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. He subsequently appeared in several films, including Luck, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, I Hate Luv Storys, Delhi Belly and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. After spending several years away from the big screen, he is now gearing up for his acting comeback with Adhure Hum Adhure Tum.

On the personal front, Imran was previously married to Avantika Malik. The couple is now separated and shares a daughter.
