Vidya Balan is one of the most popular and impactful actresses in the Hindi entertainment industry. She has been winning hearts of one and all with her credible performances for many years and such is her charisma and potential that with every new film of her’s, she just becomes better as a creative artiste. Be it Shakuntala Devi or Sherni, Vidya has been doing wonders since 2020 in the OTT space ever since Covid-19 pandemic gripped the country. However, without any iota of doubt, her latest release ‘Jalsa’ that also stars the versatile Shefali Shah is the best one so far.

Right from the very beginning till the very end, Vidya is absolutely spectacular and she literally dominates every frame with her acting chops. But hey folks, do you all know that the same Vidya Balan was initially hesitant and not willing to take up her character of Maya Menon in the project? Yes, that’s true.

During an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz, when asked about the same, Vidya revealed and we quote,

“When I first heard the script, I was very impressed and there’s no doubt about it. However, I didn’t have the guts to say yes to Jalsa because deep down my heart, I was wondering that if I myself judge the character of Maya Menon going by the character sketch, it will be very difficult for me to do justice to such a wonderfully written role. Hence, I kept myself away from it. It was only after Covid-19 and lockdown happened that my perspective changed.”

She further added,

“I realized that no one and absolutely no one can be judged based on how he or she reacts to a particular situation since nobody knows what’s running in their mind. I am glad people are appreciating the movie. I couldn’t have asked for more.”
