The sequel to one of Bollywood’s hit films, Cocktail, is undoubtedly a highly anticipated release for 2026. As shooting wrapped up recently, the film is now in post-production, and amid that, new updates have surfaced online that come as a true surprise. The film featuring Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti Sanon, and Shahid Kapoor will definitely focus on the long triangle as the first installment.
But what’s new is that Rashmika and Kriti will reportedly play a lesbian couple in Cocktail 2, and this means the second installment of the franchise could explore a homosexual (same-sex) love angle with Rashmika and Kriti’s characters. And with Shahid Kapoor’s character, the film will feature a modern-era love triangle.
However, these reports cannot be considered official confirmation from the makers or the actors, as neither has issued an official statement or reacted to these claims online.
But if this turns out to be true, it will be something new for the viewers, and what builds anticipation is how the makers narrate this with netizens having mixed opinions about homosexual relationships and marriages.
However, the Homi Adajania-directed film has wrapped shooting, and the director himself confirmed this on January 31, sharing a post. Dinesh Vijan produces cocktail 2 under the banner Maddock Films. Starring Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti Sanon, and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles, the film will be released in mid-September 2026, according to reports.
