Akshay Kumar is a bonafide superstar in the true sense of the term. The man has been entertaining one and all for more than 33 years and with a filmography boasting of more than 150 films, he certainly is called ‘Khiladi’ in the industry for a reason. From doing commercial masala entertainers to being a part of socially-relevant projects, we have seen Akshay essay all kinds of roles in his illustrious career. While we have seen a glimpse of it all, this will be the first time when he will playing a ‘king’ on-screen.

The actor’s next movie ‘Prithviraj’ is all set to release in cinemas on 3rd June and the buzz is at an all-time high for real. When asked about how he approached the role as someone who doesn’t believe in ‘method acting’, the actor said,

“Well, when you have a creative team who’s so well-researched, the best thing is to let them do their job. I didn’t add any inputs from myself. I completely surrendered to my director and followed everything that he asked me to do right from the pauses to the language and accent and the way the words are uttered.”

As far as ‘language’ is concerned, there’s a big debate happening in the country right now about Hindi movies apparently failing to compete with other regional language movies. When Akshay was asked to react on the same, he revealed,

“I don’t understand why we always have this conversation. It should simply not be about South or any language Vs Hindi. It all comes under Hindi film industry. I don’t understand the chaos around language. All good films should be made in all languages whichever possible to cater to maximum audience. I have remade a lot of South movies and a lot of South directors have remade my movies. There’s no problem in that. I don’t understand why people look at it as an issue. The thing is it’s very sad that we are not united. Every film of every language should work as we are all interdependent on each other. I hope people understand this soon and realize it is only better to happen for the larger interest of the industry.”

Prithviraj is all set to release in cinemas on 3rd June and it also stars Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt and Manushi Chhillar. Let us know your views in the comments below and for more updates, stay tuned to IWMBuzz.com
