Nakamura Yuri, the Japanese-Korean actress best known for her appearance in the Netflix series Romantics Anonymous, has sadly passed away. Reportedly, she died after her long battle with rectal cancer at the age of 44.
Yuri’s agency, Alpha Agency, confirmed the disheartening news on September 14, 2026. According to the statement, the actress passed away on September 1, 2026. Later, she was laid to rest in the presence of her family, close friends, and staff from the agency during a private funeral ceremony.
The agency, in its statement, revealed that Yuri struggled with cancer for 13 years. She and the agency’s president mutually decided to keep her illness hidden from colleagues to avoid causing unnecessary worry. The statement also shared that the actress pursued her career, the work she loved, without failing to undergo necessary treatment and medication.
The statement says, “She subsequently went into remission and continued happily pursuing the work she loved, while never failing to undergo her regular medical examinations.”
Further, the agency note reveals that Yuri’s cancer recurred in January 2025, worsening her health: “Although the surgery was successful, metastasis was discovered following the operation. At that point, it was difficult to aim for a complete cure or remission, so the decision was made to continue treatment to manage the cancer while focusing on helping her live a longer, fulfilling life.”
In August 2026, Nakamura’s condition worsened after she developed another intestinal obstruction and was told she had very little time to survive.
However, the agency statement also revealed that despite her health battles, Yuri remained cheerful, saying, “She remained calm and never lost her beautiful, kind smile, and was able to cherish her final moments surrounded by her family and those close to her.”
