We still can’t get the film, the songs, and the characters of DJ, Lakshman, and Karan from our heads. It was all back in 2006 when the film happened and gave us one of the main reasons to believe in Bollywood. We love to see films on patriotism and this is just the perfect Picasso of it, Rang De Basanti! The makers of the film were considering Shah Rukh Khan initially to play a cameo instead of R Madhavan but here’s why Shah Rukh Khan opted out!

Rang De Basanti was first thought to be the normal and simple movie on patriotism but the musical effect, the best cast of all time, perfect direction, and the overall impact made the film a blockbuster. The likes of Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, and many others brought the perfect texture of freedom fighters to give us what we were looking for from a long time.

But do you know that R Madhavan did a small cameo in the film? He played the role of Indian Air Force pilot Ajay Rathod which was a cameo as the character soon dies in a plane crash, the role was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan! But due to a busy schedule, he couldn’t make it. “Shah Rukh was approached for Ajay Rathod’s role. I pursued him for a while. But the dates didn’t work out. With Shah Rukh, you don’t question too much. We share a healthy relationship,” said the director in an interview with Hindustan Times.
