Director Major Ravi paid a visit to superstar Mohanlal at his house after the unfortunate passing of Mohanlal’s mother, Santhakumari, who died on December 31, 2025. He offered his support and paid his respects, a showcase of their strong bond and shared military background. This is also when they will come together again for a new military movie, Pahalgam: Operation Sindoor.

He also spoke about the warmth that he received from Mohanlal’s mother in their Thiruvananthapuram home. He said, When I heard that Lal’s mother had passed away, I couldn’t hold back my tears,” he added, “I went to see Lal while crying, and he too broke down for a moment. There is deep sorrow in his eyes, but he is meeting everyone with great restraint. I can see the pain”

Director Ravi further added that Mohanlal’s mother has been in poor health for a month. He further added, “My relationship with her was completely selfless. When I first met Lal in 1994, he invited me to his home in Mudavanmugal. His parents were both alive then, and I was introduced as a soldier. From that day on, our relationship was never just about cinema. It was built on affection,” per Manorama.

Mohanlal’s mother passed away at the age of 90. Her health had been a constant fight for her for a matter of years already and mainly with nervous system problems caused by a stroke she had a long time ago. Her health had gotten worse lately and she was very much in need of medical care all the time. She died at wooden so called residence of Mohanlal in Elamakkara, Kochi, where she was living for about a half a year to get special treatment.
