Actress Manju Warrier, who is known predominantly for her work in Malayalam cinema, has filed an injunction cum defamation suit against filmmaker Sanalkumar Sasidharan before the Munsiff Court, Ernakulam. With the suit, she seeks an order restraining the filmmaker from publishing any defamatory content against her, especially through social media handles.
In addition, the actress has also sought a similar order against the YouTuber Shajan Scaria and a direction to Meta to remove the defamatory content from online platforms.
Warrier also filed an interlocutory application seeking an interim injunction restraining Mr. Sasidharan from publishing any material targeting her, and a direction to Meta to remove content defaming her.
Based on the complaint, the court issued an interim injunction against Sanalkumar Sasidharan and served an official notice on Meta and journalist Shajan Scaria to respond and act on the defamatory content maligning the actress’s reputation.
Filmmaker Sanalkumar Sasidharan has been staging an indefinite hunger strike outside the Kerala Secretariat. During this protest, he made public social media claims alleging that Manju Warrier was being held captive by a “sex mafia/racket”
The filmmaker said, “We have been talking about this issue on social media for the last hundred days. Yet the public is not awake, and the Kerala government is not ready to investigate this. There is no investigation into the case against me. In this context, an indefinite hunger strike is being launched in front of the Secretariat. This is a social issue, not a personal issue. I have made a very serious allegation. This is not my only issue; I am here alone today. There’s no one else here. There can be any kind of attack on me. I’m fighting against a big mafia. Please come and support me and come forward.”
