Shah Rukh Khan's sabbatical from celluloid to continue longer

OMG: No Shah Rukh Khan film till 2022?

Shah Rukh Khan’s sabbatical is going to turn out longer than expected. Not having seen him on screen since Aanand L Rai’s ill-fated Zero in December 2018, SRK’s fans have been holding their breath for him to sign another film.

But King Khan was in no mood to oblige. Rather than sign anything half-heartedly after the Zero debacle, he opted out of the Rakesh Sharma bio-pic that he had signed, as he didn’t want to shoot off into space again (Zero had an episode in outer space).

It was clear that Shah Rukh Khan wouldn’t be visible to his fans in 2020. And now it seems he won’t be on the screen in 2021 either.

An informed source says, “ Shah Rukh has given the nod to Rajkumar Hirani’s next. It was supposed to go on the floors at the end of 2020. But now with the Corona situation being what it is, the Hirani-SRK collaboration will go on the floors only in 2021.”

This, in practical boxoffice terms, means, no SRK in 2020 and none in 2021 either. We can see his fans getting withdrawal symptoms. But these are harsh times. Harsh deprivations, like going without SRK on screen for two years, are only to be expected.
