Watching Dharmendra Deol is always empowering—regardless of your gender. The world mourns the loss of the legacy he carried so far today. Amidst the cries, Maddock Films dropped a poem penned by the luminary himself. The video carries the late actor’s warmth and his nostalgia, as he relives them while crossing the earthen lanes of his ‘pind.’
The video is from Dharmendra’s last film, ‘Ikkis.’ Maddock Films dropped the video, and followed it by an honorary tribute to the late actor, thanking him for his ‘timeless verse.’
The transcript translation follows as:
My heart yearns for that village of mine
The waters where I bathed with cattle
The fields where I wandered for fodder
To become one with earth in my games
That life which can’t be spelt in names
At that confluence of five rivers where waters run sweet
And the winds resound
gently with joyous truths
In that embrace my soul finally rests
All of my being is yours, Oh Mother!
My heart yearns for that village of mine
My heart yearns for that village of mine
Maddock Films dropped the poster on their official Instagram handle, accompanied by a heartfelt tribute: “Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa.” And added, “Dharam Ji was a true son of the soil, and his words carry the essence of that soil. This poem by him is a yearning; a tribute from one legend to another. Thank you for gifting us this timeless verse.” The actor passed away on November 24th, at the age of 89.
Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, is set to release worldwide on 25th December, 2025. The film stars Agastya Nanda in the lead role.
