Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated the veteran actor Anant Nag Ji on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024. The politician acknowledged Anant’s contribution to Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema, with a heartfelt post.
Shri Narendra Modi, on his X handle, wrote, “Congratulations to the legendary Anant Nag Ji on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. For several decades, his effortless performances, remarkable versatility and brilliance have left a very strong mark on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema. In whichever role he has played, he brought rare depth and authenticity. This is indeed a richly deserved honor for a truly distinguished artist.”
The prestigious award will be presented at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony on September 22, 2026, in Kevadia, Gujarat.

Anant Nag Ji is a legendary Indian actor. He is widely regarded as one of the all-time greatest and most versatile performers in Indian cinema. Known for his deep roots and prolific contributions to Kannada cinema, his work spans more than five decades across Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and English cinema, encompassing more than 300 films.
