Prateik Smita Patil and his wife Priya Banerjee, who tied the knot last year on February 14, 2025, in a recent interview spilled beans on shocking truths about Bollywood marriages, calling them “facade” and asking viewers to marry for themselves, not for their parents.

In a recent interview with Varinder Chawla, Prateik Smita Patil and his wife, Priya Banerjee, shared honest opinions on marriage, spilling the beans on Bollywood’s failed marriages and more.

Priya first shared her opinion on marriage; she highlights that she advises the world not to marry, but if one has to, one should marry their best. Adding to her point, Prateik advised not to marry for parents (mother and father), as those days and era are gone.

Reflecting on the fact that, in rural areas, people get married for their parents, Prateik called it unfortunate, while Priya emphasized that they are not happy. Sharing his feelings, Prateik requested viewers to try to talk to their parents about marrying by choice, and if that doesn’t work, one has to find a way out.

Intervening in the conversation, Priya asked Prateik whether he thought it was only happening in rural areas. She denies that it’s not just about rural areas, emphasizing that Prateik is talking about rural areas, but she wants to talk about Bollywood.

She then said, “I’m sorry to say this, but 90 percent of Bollywood marriages are a facade, they really are…” Even Prateik agreed, saying it is visible too, while Priya claimed she knows it because she is into it and has seen the marriages.

But Priya refused to give any gossip or tea, while Prateik told the host that what they know, the media already knows, and what the media knows, they already know about it.

Adding further, Priya said, “And I see it, we talk and gossip about this. We laugh about this.”

Sharing a recent incident, Prateik said he won’t take the show’s name or anything, but recently, a comment was made, “Raat Gayi Baat Gayi,” by one of the celebrities, where Priya claimed that’s how marriages happen in Bollywood. And further, Prateik emphasized that when a married person says “Raat Gayi Baat Gayi,” you know what the situation is in the industry.

And Priya concluded by saying that, as a Canadian, she is proud to judge such comments from yesteryears because it’s India, and it isn’t in the culture.
