After weeks of speculation, the producer of Tumbbad 2 has finally announced the big news, bringing Alia Bhatt on board for the second part of the franchise. Lead actor and producer Sohum Shah has confirmed the addition of the actress to the much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 cult horror film.
On Tuesday, July 14, Sohum Shah, with a series of photos on his social media in collaboration with Alia Bhatt, Amita Shah, and Dr. Jayantilal Gada, announced the big news with the caption, “A new chapter unfolds. Welcome to #Tumbbad 2, @aliaabhatt #PralayAayega. See you in cinemas 3.12.2027.”
Producer Sohum, during a press conference, spoke about the sequel, sharing that Tumbbad has been very special to him, and with Tumbbad 2, the idea is to take the world forward in a way that feels deeper and more expansive. He also shared that, with this part, they will be exploring new layers within the story as the mythology and atmosphere connect with viewers.
Tumbbad 2 is directed by Adesh Prasad and produced by Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films in association with Pen Studios. And the sequel will also feature Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film is set to hit the theatres on December 3, 2027.
Alia Bhatt was last seen in YRF’s spy action film Alpha, which also starred Sharvari in the central role with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles, and Hrithik Roshan in a special cameo.
