Amid Dhurandhar The Revenge’s massive box-office success, actor R Madhavan landed in controversy after members of the Sikh community pointed out a disrespectful scene in the film. As per the reports, FIR has also been filed against the actor, who states that the actor was seen smoking while reciting the holy Gurbani in the scene between him and Ranveer Singh. As this made headlines and fans took it the wrong way, R Madhavan issued a clarification on the matter, highlighting he had no intentions to hurt the Sikh community.
On his Instagram handle, Madhavan shared a video of himself clearing the air, first thanking the fans for the massive love, and also addressing the issue of him smoking while reciting a holy verse in the Sikh community, highlighting that it was just a misunderstanding and that he had no intention of hurting anyone.
He said, “Namaskar, Mai hoo R Madhavan, Dhurandhar ke pure parivar ke taraf se aapko bohot dhanyawaad ke aapne hamari film ko itna pyaar dikhaya, hume samajh nhi aa raha hum apne aap ko kaise prakat kare. Haal hi mein hume pataa chala hai ke kuch logon ko iss baat se takleef pahunchi hai, is film ke ek scene me Guru Govind ke dasam granth se kuch lines bolte waqt maine cigarette smoke ki hai aur isse un logon ko thes pahunchi hai. Main aapko yakeen dilata hu yeh bilkul sahi nahi hai. Thodi galat faimi hai kyunki mujhe pura yakeen hai iss scene ke daruan, ye line bolne se pehle, Aditya Dhar ji ne joh ki mujhse zyada khayal rakhte hai in sab cheezon ka. Maine bakaayda cigarette bujha diya tha aur uske baad agar aap scene dekhenge to aapko pura yakeen ho jayega ki naahi mere munh se dhuaan hai aur naahi pure frame mein cigarette ka dhuaan hai naahi pure scene me ant hone tak cigaratte ka naamo nishaan hai.”
Madhavan apologised to the Sikh community and extended his support, highlighting how he himself goes to the Golden temple before his film releases and the respect he has for the community and its people, “Kyunki hum jaane anjaane mein bhi hum kisika dil nhi dukhana chahte. Puri sikh community ke saath hum hai aur hamesha rahenge. Hum unka bohot aadar karte hai. In fact, har film ke release ke Pehle main khud hi golden temple jaata hu joh sabko pataa hai. Toh yakeen maniye humara koi irada nhi tha kisi ko thees pahuchane ka aur naahi humne is film kiya hai.
