Actor Rajesh Sharma, known for his appearances in hits like M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, The Dirty Picture, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, and others, was hospitalized recently and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata. According to reports, he sustained a suspected insect bite during the shooting of the upcoming film Fauji, starring Prabhas, at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
Actress Sudipa Chatterjee posted a detailed statement on social media, revealing that the incident occurred while the actor was working on the film. She shared that the actor was bitten by a bug or spider while interacting with a local technician in a dense, vegetation-covered area. When he felt something bite him, he thought it was just a normal bite and continued working. About six hours later, he experienced severe pain in his leg and felt unwell. And despite his worsening condition, he took a flight to Kolkata during which he also caught a high fever. After landing in Kolkata, he was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Reportedly, the actor remains critical and is under a doctor’s observation. Amid the actor’s unstable condition, All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) president Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta urged the Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri Revanth Reddy, to order an immediate, high-level investigation into the incident at the shooting set, emphasizing that if any safety lapses or negligence are found, strict legal action should be taken against all those responsible.
AICWA also demanded that the producer and the production house bear all the costs of Rajesh Sharma’s medical treatment and ensure that the actor receives the best possible healthcare until he fully recovers.
According to fresh reports, the makers of Fauji said they were unaware of any medical emergency involving Rajesh Sharma during the film’s shoot, adding that the actor had finished his shoot and even returned home a week before the reports came out. Also, the makers tried to contact Rajesh’s family but received no response.
In contrast, Rajesh’s personal assistant, Subhashish Panda, dismissed claims that the actor’s illness was related to the Fauji shoot. He also shared that the actor was admitted following swelling in his leg caused by diabetes, and the admission was just precautionary. At present, the actor is recovering well and is likely to be discharged soon. He even rejected the incident claims in the set.
We wish Rajesh Sharma a speedy recovery!
