Well-known Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has landed in legal trouble with the Delhi High Court’s latest order in his cheque bounce case. According to reports, the actor surrendered to the Tihar Jail authorities in Delhi on Thursday, February 5, after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him relief in his cheque bounce cases.

Rajpal Yadav appealed for an extension of the deadlines for his surrender, but the Delhi High Court rejected the plea. A source told PTI, “He surrendered before the jail authorities at 4 PM on Thursday, February 5. Now the jail authorities will follow the standard operating procedure.”

The reports suggest that on Wednesday, February 4, the Delhi High Court denied the request to extend the deadlines set for Rajpal to surrender to the jail authorities. In contrast, before the actor surrendered, his lawyer told the court that his client had collected 50 lakh rupees and needed one more week to make the payment. However, the actor was ordered to surrender on Wednesday, February 4, at 4 PM.

Rejecting the plea, the court said, “This Court cannot be expected to show or create special circumstances for any person merely because such a person belongs to a particular background or industry. Leniency, though sometimes necessary, cannot be extended endlessly, especially when it is met with continued non-compliance.”

About The Cheque Bounce Case

M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd filed a complaint against Rajpal Yadav and his wife over several bounced cheques and for failing clear the dues. The magisterial court in Delhi in 2018 declared that the actor and his wife were convicted in the cheque bounce cases, leading to six months’ jail. The sessions court upheld the conviction, while in 2024, it was temporarily suspended after the high court insisted that the actor take sincere and genuine measures to settle the matter amicably with the opposite party. But due to his negligence and repeated breaches, he was directed to surrender.
