Popular actor Ram Kapoor, who is known for his huge body of work in TV shows and movies, is all set to enthrall audiences in a new avatar.

Ram, who was last seen in Loveyatri and is also shooting for Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad and Yoodle Films’ comedy Bahut Samman Hua, has bagged director Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy. He has come on board the film to play a crucial character.

A Suitable Boy tells the story of spirited university student Lata and her coming of age in North India in 1951 at the same time as the country is carving out its own identity as an independent nation and is about to go to the polls for its first democratic general elections. It is an adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel, A Suitable Boy. Produced by Lookout Point for the BBC, the drama is penned by British screenwriter Andrew Davies.

The cast members include Ishaan Khatter, Tabu and Tanya Maniktala. Tabu will be seen playing the role of courtesan Saeeda Bai. Ishaan Kahtter has been cast as Maan Kapoor, who is infatuated with Saeeda Bai, while Tanya has been cast as Lata. The film also stars Shefali Shah, Vivek Gomber, Rasika Dugal, Namit Das and Vivaan Shah.

When we buzzed Ram, he confirmed and said, “Yes, I have just started shooting for A Suitable Boy and I am super excited. Working with Mira Nair is a dream come true for any actor and she’s absolutely amazing.”
