Despite garnering positive reviews from critics and viewers, Nitesh Tiwari-directed Ramayana Part 1 faces steep competition to surpass historic box office benchmarks. While the film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash has crossed the ₹100 crore net mark in just two days, it still lags behind films like Jawan, Dhurandhar 2, and Adipurush.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned a fair ₹48.05 crore net in India on Day 2 (First Friday). The film—also starring Sai Pallavi as the female lead—brought in the modest figures across 23,316 shows at 28.9 percent occupancy in theatres.
The Hindi version dominated on day 2, collecting a whopping ₹35.50 crore net. In the Kannada belt, the film earned ₹5.15 crore net, while the Telugu version collected ₹4.75 crore net. The Tamil and Malayalam versions earned the least, collecting ₹1.50 crore net and ₹1.15 crore net, respectively.
While the mythological drama is performing well, it is still below expectations given the film’s scale and cinematic spectacle. However, the film has surpassed the ₹100 crore milestone in the domestic market, standing at ₹112.90 crore net, while India gross is at ₹134.80 crore.
In the international market, the film collected ₹35 crore gross on Day 2, which takes the overseas gross to ₹86.25 crore. Together, the overseas and India gross help the worldwide gross enter the ₹200 crore club at ₹221.05 crore.
Produced by Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is the most expensive film in Indian cinema history. The ensemble cast also includes Ravie Dubey, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Indira Krishnan, and others in supporting roles.
