Before making his acting debut, Ranbir explored filmmaking and worked as an assistant director. He assisted on films including Aa Ab Laut Chalen and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. He eventually stepped into the spotlight as an actor with Bhansali’s 2007 romantic drama Saawariya, which marked his debut opposite Sonam Kapoor. His performance also earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Over the years, Ranbir has established himself with performances across different genres. His filmography includes Wake Up Sid, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Raajneeti, Rockstar, Barfi!, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Tamasha, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Sanju. In recent years, he has also featured in films such as Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Animal.
Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming movies
Ranbir currently has several highly anticipated projects lined up. One of his biggest upcoming releases is Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where he will portray Lord Rama. The film is scheduled to release on November 6, 2026.
He will also headline Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, which features Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal alongside him. The film is currently scheduled to release on January 21, 2027.
Apart from these projects, Ranbir is also associated with Brahmastra 2: Dev and Brahmastra 3, continuing the fantasy franchise that began with Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. Ramayana: Part 2 is also planned as part of the two-part epic.
Animal Park remains another major project linked to Ranbir, with the actor expected to return as Ranvijay Singh Balbir. However, an official release date for the sequel has not been announced.
As Ranbir Kapoor turns 44, his career continues to enter a new phase with an interesting mix of mythological cinema, period drama, fantasy and franchise films waiting to unfold on the big screen.
