Rashmika Mandanna, the film actress known not just for her acting chops but also for her genuine, grounded personality, has once again won hearts. With her big gesture of adopting 400 families for the next year, she has become a true inspiration for many.
On October 14, 2026, Rashmika shared a glimpse of the initial rollout, revealing that she has adopted 400 families to kickstart her project, Annapurna. The actress, in the long caption, revealed how her powerful on-screen role as Jayamma in her upcoming period action drama Ranabaali (co-starring Vijay Deverakonda) inspired her to break her usual rule of keeping her charity work private:
“There is something in the characters you play that influence you.. A lot of you keep asking are there any similarities between Jayamma and me and my answer is yes – and this is one of them.. this has always been me and this is also her.. and I would always keep doing things like this for all the love that you give me.. but always kept it under the wraps cz I thought if I knew and just my team knew and just a bunch of us knew.. it was enough.. but now I am opening up about this because I am thinking.. if this could influence you lovelies out there to do anything like this.. I would be happy. So hence I thought, why not start now.. with this!”
Rather than permanent, long-term adoption by the same households, the program is strategically structured to maximize its reach. Rashmika explained:
“I’ve adopted 400 families today, and I want to just help 400 families at a time for 3 months each and continue this for the next one year and hope that they can save that money of groceries and use it to save and plan their futures better.”
Reflecting on big impacts of even small gestures, she said, “Even a small act of kindness can change a person’s life, and it doesn’t have to be big… let’s all start with something small!”
Emphasizing the worth of doing this, the actress said, “And trust me, all these smiles are worth every sleepless night, the injuries, the struggles, the pain, the tears, the everything that I’ve had to go through over the last working years.. this is priceless!!”

Acknowledging the difficulties of survival, Rashmika announced the Annapurna project. With the initiative, she will provide groceries to 400 families for 3 months at a time, with the efforts continuing over the next year. The multi-city outreach campaign covers eight primary regional hubs across South India: Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, Anantapur, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Kodagu, and Vijayawada.
Here’s a list of groceries that will be provided under the initiative.
