The accused was caught in Rajasthan after a detailed investigation. With this arrest, the total number of people held in the case has gone up to 11.
The incident occurred earlier this month and caused widespread concern, especially because it happened outside the home of a well-known figure like Rohit Shetty. Soon after the firing, Mumbai Police started their investigation and began tracking down those involved.
According to officials, the Crime Branch team worked across states to trace the accused. The shooter was finally located in Rajasthan and taken into custody. Along with him, several other accused have also been arrested in connection with the case. Some suspects were picked up from Uttar Pradesh as well, showing that the case had links beyond just one city.
Police shared that earlier, a few accused had already been arrested, and now, with the latest action, the total number has reached 11. Out of these, six arrests have been made directly by the Crime Branch, while others were held during the earlier phase of the investigation.
The case became more serious when strict charges were added. On February 11, five of the accused were presented before a special court, where they were booked under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act). This law is usually used in cases where organised crime is suspected. Adding MCOCA shows that the police believe this was not a random act, but something more planned.
So far, the police have not shared full details about the motive behind the firing. However, the way the investigation has been carried out suggests that they are looking at all possible angles. The involvement of multiple people and arrests from different states suggests it may be part of a larger network.
More updates are expected soon as the investigation continues.
