The production house is suing Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh for ₹40 crore because he left Don 3, which they were going to produce. The financial losses from Excel Entertainment stem from both sunk development costs and pre-production expenses, as well as scheduling delays that occurred after Singh left the project. The production house claims they had finished all pre-production processes when the actor left, since they had completed their set designs and established their co-star schedule, which included Kriti Sanon.

Sources close to the dispute reveal that Singh walked out over creative disagreements, as he found the final script unsatisfactory and his requested changes did not appear in the final draft. Excel Entertainment insists that the film entered pre-production only after Singh approved the script. The two parties held a two-hour mediation session last week, but no solution was reached to their disagreement. The Producers Guild of India (PGI) has now stepped in to mediate the standoff, according to industry insiders.

Director Farhan Akhtar has put Don 3 on indefinite hold after Singh left the project, and he will now work on the long-delayed Jee Le Zaraa. The franchise, which starred Shah Rukh Khan in two successful instalments, was expected to start shooting its next movie this year. Neither Singh’s representatives nor Excel Entertainment have not released any official public statements. Legal experts predict the dispute will take several months to resolve, delaying both parties’ work on their upcoming projects.
