Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan movie remains the most attended theatrical performance since the pandemic ended. The 2025 movie Dhurandhar achieved higher box-office earnings than its competitors. The 2023 action thriller sold approximately 3.92 crore tickets across all language versions, which exceeds the 3.55 crore footfalls of Dhurandhar.
Dhurandhar nonetheless made history at the box office, which became the first Hindi film to cross the ₹ 1,000 crore India gross mark. The film concluded its theatrical run with ₹836 crore in domestic revenue and over ₹1,300 crore in international earnings, surpassing Jawan’s domestic net of ₹640.25 crore and international total of ₹1,160 crore.
Jawan’s higher audience numbers result from its deliberate release strategy, which used Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages to connect with South Indian audiences, according to industry analysts who study the sector. The single-language Hindi release of Dhurandhar generated its record-breaking revenue, which established it as the most-viewed Bollywood film that people watched only in Hindi.
The box office revenue gap between ticket sales and actual earnings shows how high ticket prices and premium format shows have changed box office earnings calculations in the past few years.
Dhurandhar has now transitioned to its digital streaming run on Netflix as of early 2026, which allows home audiences in India and international markets to watch the film.
