Shibasish Sarkar will continue to lead the Producers Guild of India (PGI) after securing a fifth term as its President. He was unanimously chosen for the position during a meeting of the Guild’s newly formed Council of Management, following its 72nd Annual General Meeting on September 22.
The Guild has also expanded its Council of Management with the induction of several leading names from the Hindi film industry. Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Rajkumar Hirani, Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya Akhtar are among the new members joining the industry body.
The leadership team will see a mix of continuing and newly elected office-bearers. Aashish Singh, Ankur Garg, Madhu Bhojwani and Manish Goswami have retained their positions as Vice Presidents, while Hiren Gada and Sushilkumar Agrawal have been elected to the same role. Ashim Samanta and Fazila Allana will continue as Treasurers.
Reacting to his re-election, Sarkar expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him for a fifth consecutive year. He said he looked forward to collaborating with fellow Council members and the wider Guild membership to address the challenges facing the industry while exploring emerging opportunities.
The Council of Management also includes Pallab Bhattacharya, Rajan Shahi, Sharad Patel, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Utpal Acharya and Vishesh Bhatt.
Veteran industry figures Amit Khanna, Kiran V Shantaram, Manmohan Shetty, Mukesh Bhatt and Randhir Kapoor remain Permanent Members of the Guild. Kamalkumar Barjatya and Ramesh Sippy hold the distinction of Members Emeritus.
Nitin Tej Ahuja serves as the Guild’s Chief Executive Officer.
