Renowned Bollywood director Siddharth Anand has found himself at the center of a social media storm, facing Telugu fans’ fury after his latest remark on X (formerly Twitter), in which he took a dig at Telugu films. In his now-deleted post, the director, in a way, made fun of the recent Telugu film releases with big stars that have underperformed at the box office.
Siddharth, on his social media handle, listed the number of films, including Jr. NTR’s Devara, Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG, Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom, Ram Charan’s Peddi, Prabhas’s The Raja Saab, Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj. After listing the film titles, he marked them as flops and wrote “Oops” in the comments section.
Following his post, fans couldn’t hold back reacting and calling him out.
A user said, “Says the director who blamed the audience for the flop of Fighter. @justSidAnand. Kalki 1000cr, Devara Hit, OG had one of the biggest openings in india. Your next movie is KING, if you have guts release it against Prabhas again.”
The second said, “Devara was hit, Peddi was average. Hanuman blockbuster. Kalki 2898 AD blockbuster. Saripodhaa Sanivaaram superhit, etc. Learn to make proper films first and have some grounding instead of saying absolute bakwas like 90% of people have not flown hence Fighter was not a hit.”
The third said, “@justSidAnand a director who has never made an original and even his copies are so bad that makes you cringe has the Audacity to mock South Indian cinema even when his last film failed he said audience wasn’t smart enough to understand fighter jet action while same audience loved #safedsagar.”
Siddharth Anand’s next release is the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer King, scheduled to release in cinemas on 24 December 2026.
