The Indian entertainment industry is reeling under the impact of Covid 19. Hoping to revive the fortunes in the movie-theatre business Reliance Entertainment and co-producer Rohit Shetty have been frantically negotiating with the multiplex chains for the widest possible release of the Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi.

However the latest reports on this front are not encouraging. According to insiders Reliance Entertainment has reached a stalemate in their negotiations with the multiplexes.

A leading distributor informs me, “The producers of Sooryavanshi and the multiplexes have not been able to come to a common number regarding the profit-sharing. Sooryavanshi may not release in the multilplex chains at all. The producers may decide to release it on April 2 in single theatres and on the OTT platform.”
However another source from a leading multiplex chain dismisses these misgivings. “These are all arm-twisting tactics. The Sooryavanshi producers will come around on the negotiation table and the film will release in the multiplex chains as well as single theatres. The announcement will be made on February 15.”
