As she promotes Netflix’s new Tamil series #Love, which she has produced and which stars Aishwarya Lekshmi and Arjun Das, Soundarya reflected on how society continues to view relationships differently for men and women.

Produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth and directed by Balaji Mohan, #Love explores contemporary relationships through the story of two rival dating-app founders, Tara and Matthew, who have very different ideas about chemistry and compatibility. The series premiered on Netflix on October 2, 2026.

Soundarya Rajinikanth Calls Out The Double Standards Around Remarriage

Speaking about her own experience of divorce and remarriage, Soundarya pointed out how women often face greater scrutiny when they choose to start their lives again. According to her, a second chance can sometimes be viewed as far more acceptable for men, while women continue to be questioned and judged for similar choices.

She also spoke about the expectations placed on women. From managing professional responsibilities to handling relationships and family, women are often expected to multitask and carry several responsibilities at once. Soundarya, however, chooses to look at this pressure from a different perspective.

For her, women being able to handle multiple challenges is also a reflection of their strength. She believes difficulties often come to people who have the ability to face them and take them in their stride.

‘My Parents Stood Like A Rock’ — Soundarya On Her Divorce

One of the most emotional parts of Soundarya’s conversation was her discussion about her parents, Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth, and the role they played during her difficult phase.

Reflecting on her divorce, Soundarya said that her parents stood by her like a rock. She emphasised how important parental support can be when someone is going through a challenging period in their personal life. Recent reports on the conversation also highlighted Soundarya crediting her parents for being a pillar of strength during her divorce.

She also spoke about the changing dynamics within her family and how perspectives on companionship and love can evolve with age. For Soundarya, her father has always been an important figure in her life, while her mother has also been a source of friendship and emotional support.

Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Perspective On Love Has Evolved

Interestingly, her personal experiences have not made Soundarya lose faith in marriage. Instead, they appear to have given her a more mature understanding of companionship, relationships and the idea of finding happiness again.

That perspective also connects closely with the theme of #Love. The Netflix series looks at relationships in a contemporary world where dating apps, compatibility, chemistry and personal choices are constantly changing the way people understand love.

Through her candid conversation, Soundarya brings the discussion beyond her own story, raising a larger question about why women are still expected to explain or justify their choices when it comes to love, marriage and starting over.

Her message is ultimately about resilience — that a difficult relationship does not have to define an entire life, and that everyone deserves the freedom to find their own version of happiness.
