If the situation is broadly as described, the relationship seems to have reached a point where ending it might be healthier for both. But it’s important to separate their actual relationship problems from speculation about her motives, his family and his ex-wife.
Being much younger, clingy, politically outspoken or ambitious doesn’t automatically make her the problem. Her reportedly expecting acting opportunities from his production house could certainly complicate matters, particularly if he has begun wondering whether career ambitions are mixed up with the romance. But without evidence, it would be unfair to conclude that she dated him purely for work.
His parents apparently disliking her adds another complication. They may prefer his ex-wife and find the current girlfriend too opinionated, but ultimately they aren’t in the relationship. Besides, if his ex-wife has moved on, wishing for a reunion changes nothing.
The bigger issue is his behaviour. If he no longer enjoys the relationship, feels suffocated and wants to meet other women, then emotionally he may already have checked out. Joining dating apps while still with his girlfriend, however, isn’t a particularly fair way of handling that. He should end one relationship before searching for another.
Her allegedly discovering the dating-app activity and the story reaching the press only made an already messy situation public. Their appearance together the next day, with her once again holding onto him, made things even more confusing. Perhaps they reconciled, perhaps he backed down, or perhaps they simply wanted to present a united front publicly. Outsiders cannot know.
So it isn’t entirely a question of “she should give up.” If he has clearly ended things, then yes, she eventually needs to accept that he no longer wants the relationship.
But he needs to end it clearly too. He cannot privately behave like a single man while publicly continuing to play boyfriend. If he genuinely wants out, he needs to say so, establish boundaries and stick to them. Otherwise, both of them are helping this cycle continue.
