As per media reports, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has received a major legal relief after the Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance granted for the expansion of his iconic Mumbai home, Mannat.

The apex court observed that the authorities had found substantial compliance with legal requirements, paving the way for the proposed construction to proceed.

The matter was heard by a Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice V. Mohana, which declined to interfere with an earlier order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The tribunal had already rejected the challenge against the CRZ clearance, and the Supreme Court upheld that decision.

During the hearing, the apex court observed that the concerned authorities had found substantial compliance with the applicable legal provisions. On that basis, the Bench stated that there was no reason to halt the project, allowing the proposed addition of two floors to Mannat to move forward.
Senior Advocate Shoeb Alam, appearing for the appellant, argued that the matter should not be viewed differently because it involved a high-profile film personality. He also submitted that the petitioner had earlier played a role in exposing the Adarsh Housing Society scam and was a respected activist.

The Bench, however, clarified that Shah Rukh Khan’s celebrity status did not influence its decision. During the proceedings, Justice Sanjay Kumar Bagchi remarked that the court was “in no way influenced” by such considerations, making it clear that the verdict was based solely on the legal merits of the case.

With the Supreme Court refusing to interfere with the NGT’s order, the legal hurdle surrounding the CRZ clearance has been removed, allowing the expansion work at Mannat to proceed.
