Taapsee Pannu, the powerhouse of talent, recently made her comeback on the OTT screen with Netflix’s Gandhari and sat down for a candid conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit. During the conversation, she opened up about being tagged as ‘difficult’ in the film industry for her opinions and also addressed Kriti Sanon’s viral ad controversy.

When asked whether navigating the industry as an opinionated female artist is inherently difficult today, Taapsee nodded yes, saying it has been consistently tough for her. She revealed that she has frequently faced repercussions for it, sometimes the brunt of it in casting, and sometimes learned that, behind her back, she was considered or not considered because of her choice to speak up, whatever she feels.

The Gandhari actress also added that she realized it is difficult to play a facade, mentioning it takes a lot of hard work to perform an image that you are not. She also shared how tiring it gets to play that fake image 24/7; as a result, she leaves her performing chops strictly for the camera rather than living out a manufactured image the whole time.

Despite being told how to behave or speak throughout her career, Taapsee continues to voice her mind openly. Taapsee points out that she has maintained boundaries of respect and dignity with people. She also added that the industry-wide habit of labeling assertive women as “difficult” needs to stop permanently.

Taapsee Reacts On Kriti Sanon’s Rakhi Ad Controversy

Taapsee further reacted to the massive online trolling directed at Kriti Sanon regarding her recent GIVA jewelry advertisement. The actress asked, “Why are we giving the media space the power for these conversations?”, highlighting that power should be taken away. Further suggesting that the public and media should collectively strip attention away from manufactured controversies.

Taapsee concluded that if audiences and news outlets stop giving negative publicity and online outrage prime coverage, these toxic cycles of policing female actors will naturally fade away.
