Varun Dhawan and his wife, Natasha Dalal, welcomed their daughter Lara in 2024. While everything seemed normal initially, the couple later discovered that Lara had DDH when she was around one-and-a-half years old.

Talking about it during a recent episode of *Be A Man, Yaar!*Varun explained the condition in simple terms. He shared that in DDH, the hip joint doesn’t sit properly in its socket, where one leg can be shorter than the other. This imbalance can lead to difficulty in walking or running and may also cause an uneven gait.

He also mentioned that, if left untreated, the condition can lead to long-term issues such as early arthritis or spine-related problems. Varun pointed out that in many Western countries, such conditions are detected and treated at birth, but awareness and early diagnosis in India still need improvement. However, he acknowledged that there are many skilled doctors in the country who handle such cases effectively.

Opening up about Lara’s treatment, Varun revealed that she did not require surgery. Instead, doctors corrected the issue through a medical procedure that helped reposition the hip. However, the recovery phase was not easy.

Lara had to wear a spica cast for nearly 2.5 months. This type of cast keeps the lower body immobilized to allow the hip to heal properly. Varun shared how emotionally challenging it was to see his daughter go through the process, especially when she had to be put under anesthesia and woke up in a full cast.

Despite the difficult phase, the family now feels a sense of relief. The cast has been removed, and Lara is currently on the road to recovery. Varun expressed gratitude that things improved without the need for major surgery.

The actor also hinted that this experience has left a lasting impact on him. He even mentioned writing a book about the journey, possibly to help other parents understand and deal with similar situations.

On the personal front, Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal have always kept their relationship relatively private.

By sharing his daughter’s story, Varun has not only opened up about a tough phase in his life but has also brought attention to a medical condition that many parents may not be aware of.
