Tamil actress Radha on Monday, September 21, 2026, filed a police complaint with the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner against her elder sister, Ambika, and brother, Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair. She alleged that her siblings, without her knowledge or permission, took her signed blank cheques from her residence and misused them in an attempt to claim around 46 crore. The Commissioner has reportedly transferred the matter to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for a thorough probe.
In her complaint, Radha emphasized the wider family dispute over property and financial transactions. She said she keeps some signed cheques at home for expenses like salaries, utilities, etc., especially when she travels.
Sharing the truth, Radha said she had a current account with IDBI Bank for her business, which was initially operated under the name ARS Garden Studio, but since the business was renamed to RR Gardens in January 2025, she received a new chequebook. As a result, she forgot about the old, unused cheques at her residence.
Detailing how she discovered the fraud, Radha said her bank informed her on September 17 that five old cheques had been presented for encashment in Ambika’s name, involving a total of around 46 crore. Radha immediately asked the bank to stop payment on the cheques.
Radha claimed that she never gave Ambika any cheques or involved her in any financial transactions that would allow her such payments.
She further claimed that her brother, Mallikarjuna, filled the cheques and accessed them from her room while she was not in Chennai.
Radha alleged that the matter concerns a dispute over family property, saying she has been barred from entering the property for the last one and a half years and that valuables, jewelry, property documents, and other records are kept there.
Radha sought a police investigation into the matter and criminal actions if charges are proved.
For the unversed, Radha and Ambika were known actresses in Tamil cinema during the 1980s. The two have appeared opposite stars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
