It’s the never-ending spirit that makes Mumbai the city that makes dreams come true. It is the place to learn the evolution and survival of the fittest. Chinmoy Kashyap, an upcoming Director who hails from Assam decided to switch his direction and came to Mumbai at the age of 19 with a dream to pursue a career in filmmaking.
Chinmoy decided to sign up for a filmmaking course and while learning, Chinmoy got an opportunity to work as an editor for various brands like Kit-Kat, Nestle Coffee, Maggie, etc. He also got an opportunity to work with multiple TV serials and Web films and as an assistant director in the past.
Presently, Chinmoy Kashyap is gearing up for his first-ever directorial venture titled Some Sugar Please, which is all set to release soon.
Fighting against all odds and run behind his dreams has helped Chinmoy come a long way and here’s what the debutant director has to share with all the budding filmmakers who are planning to step into the entertainment world.
1. Be Patient
If you want to pursue a career in the entertainment industry then being patient is definitely the number one tip that I will give. In this industry, hundreds of thousands of people come to try their luck and from which only a few get a chance. To survive in this industry patience is the key. If you are good at what you do and love to do that wholeheartedly then eventually one day you will succeed. You just need to be patient, doors will open for you.
2. Learn the skills
In any field within the entertainment industry, be it acting, direction, cinematography or any other field, if you want to be successful in it then you will have to learn the skills for it. No matter how hard you work without learning the skills you cannot succeed. For example, Nowadays people make this common assumption that with a good physique and good looks anyone can become an actor but that’s not the case. In order to act in a film or tv series you will have to know what to do and how to do it, what’s expression is, how to look into the camera, how to be natural in front of the camera. All that you cannot just do it only with your passion or hard work right? You will have to learn it.
3. Think Smart
Nothing is going to come easily. Along with working hard and everything you have to be a smart thinker too. You will have to be spontaneous in that way. You will have to know when to make the correct move. You cannot wait for everything to come your way. You will have to find your way.
4. Be passionate
Never ever think of pursuing a career in the entertainment industry just because of the limelight, glamour and lavish lifestyle that you see from the outside. You have to be passionate about what you want to do. You will have to be in love with what you want to succeed in.
5. Learn to accept rejections
Rejection is something that you will have to face at any stage of your career, be it in the beginning or be it after you succeed. This is something that you will have to seriously think about before coming to the industry. You will have to be ready for whatever comes your way and will have to know how to deal with it. You will have to be able to accept rejection and move on and work even harder for the next time.
