I’ve Made Lataji Promise To Sing For Me Again: Rajesh Roshan

Composer Rajesh Roshan shares a very special bonding with the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. They worked closely on melodies like Bhool gayi sab kuch(Julie), Pal bhar mein yeh kya ho gaya(Swami), Pardesia(Mr Natwarlal) and Wada no tod(Dil Tujhko Diya).

Rajesh has now asked Lataji to sing for him again. “The last time she sang for me was in Karan Arjun 25 years ago. I have now asked her to sing for me again.”

Rajesh had a very emotional conversation with Lataji recently. “My eyes were moist when I spoke to her after a long time. She was so warm and her memory is razor-sharp. She could recall incidents in our lives from the time my brother(Rakesh Roshan) and I were young children.”

Rajesh’s mother Ira Roshan and Lataji were friends.

Says Rajesh, “When they were young and aspiring singers they travelled together by train to recording studios. That’s how close they were.”
