Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are presently celebrating the success of their sports biopic 83, and the partying isn’t slowing off. The film was released in theatres on December 24, 2021, and it was a huge success. It’s a classic film on the iconic and legendary 1983 World Cup encounter between India and the West Indies. Ranveer Singh plays cricketer Kapil Dev, and Deepika plays Romi Bhatia, the latter’s wife, in the film. Deepika Padukone’s spot-on portrayal of Dev’s wife earned her positive accolades thanks to her curly bob cut and simple style. In a recent Instagram post, the Bollywood actress revealed why she chose the sports film in the first place.

Deepika Padukone claimed that she chose the character in honor of her mother, Ujala Padukone, and dedicated the film’s success to her. Deepika Padukone thanked the housewives who keep the fort while their husbands follow their dreams in a lovely statement. Deepika’s mother, like Romi Bhatia (Kapil Dev’s wife), prioritized her husband (Prakash Padukone) and his desire to pursue tennis over her own. Deepika Padukone’s father is a great tennis player who has received the Arjuna award (1972) and the Padma Shri award (1982).

Deepika captioned her post by saying, “My Dearest Amma, I did this film ONLY & ONLY for you! I’ve said this before, and il say it again… We walk away with all the credit and glory, but the sacrifice of a spouse and his or her family always goes unnoticed! My little contribution to #83thefilm is to recognize and acknowledge every homemaker who puts the dreams of her spouse, her children, and her family ahead of her own. #UjjalaPadukone #RomiDev #MiniMathur #ThisIs83”.
