Padma Bhushan awardee Anupam Kher’s renowned acting institute, Actor Prepares, has completed 21 years of nurturing aspiring performers, marking the milestone with the inauguration of a new centre in New Delhi. The expansion signals the institute’s growing national footprint beyond its long-standing Mumbai base.

Located in Safdarjung Enclave, the newly launched Delhi centre was inaugurated by acclaimed actor Boman Irani, highlighting the institute’s commitment to bringing structured, professional actor training closer to aspiring talent across India.

Founded in 2005 by Anupam Kher, Actor Prepares began its journey modestly in a single room with just eight students. Over the past two decades, it has evolved into one of Asia’s leading acting schools, known for its industry-aligned curriculum and hands-on approach. Notably, Actor Prepares remains the only acting institute globally led by an active professional actor, lending real-world relevance to its pedagogy.

With its main campus in Mumbai, the heart of India’s film and television industry, Actor Prepares has built a strong reputation for comprehensive actor training rooted in craft, discipline and practical experience. The institute offers a wide range of programmes, including full-time diploma courses, advanced acting modules, short-term workshops and specialised youth acting programmes, catering to film, television and digital media aspirants.

Over the years, the institute’s alumni have made a strong mark in the entertainment industry. Notable names include Deepika Padukone, Varun Dhawan, Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Esha Gupta, Gauahar Khan, and Shubhangi Dutt, among others. The institute also supports students through an in-house casting team, helping them transition smoothly into professional careers.

As Actor Prepares celebrates its 21st anniversary, the launch of the Delhi centre stands as a significant milestone reflecting both its legacy and future ambition. With a continued focus on disciplined craft, self-discovery and real-world preparation, the institute remains committed to transforming raw talent into confident, industry-ready performers—staying true to Anupam Kher’s vision of lifelong learning and creative exploration.
