Actor Viineet Kumar Siingh has expressed his grief over the passing of Nana Patekar, remembering him not only as a great actor but as a deeply sensitive person who understood and gave voice to the emotions, pain and helplessness of the common man.

Viineet, who is currently shooting in the UK, shared that he woke up to the heartbreaking news and was finding it difficult to come to terms with the loss.

“Not just a great actor, but someone who could feel and give voice to the emotions of an ordinary person, his deep pain and his helplessness, is no longer with us. An immensely sensitive, courageous and great soul has left us,” Vineet shared.

The loss is deeply personal for Vineet, who had the opportunity to work with Nana Patekar only recently.

“It was only recently that I had the opportunity to work with him on a film. The time we spent together, our conversations, and so many things he said to me keep coming back to me today. It feels like it was only yesterday,” he said.

Viineet also spoke about growing up watching Nana Patekar’s work and what it meant to eventually have the opportunity to work alongside him.

“I grew up watching his work, and having had the opportunity to work with him will always remain very special to me. His passing has left an enormous void.”

Being thousands of miles away from India has made the moment even more difficult for the actor. “I am currently shooting in the UK, and being thousands of miles away, I feel a strange sense of helplessness,” he shared.

Concluding his tribute, Vineet prayed for strength for Nana Patekar’s family and the millions of people who loved him.

“Nana sir, you will always be remembered. I offer my heartfelt tribute. Om Shanti.”
