With September coming to an end, it’s the perfect time to catch up on some of the month’s gripping Hollywood releases that have made their way to OTT. 1. The Wizard of the Kremlin [Zee 5]
Set against the political upheaval of post-Soviet Russia, The Wizard of the Kremlin follows Vadim Baranov, played by Paul Dano, a filmmaker who is drawn into the world of Russian politics and becomes a key figure within its corridors of power. Jude Law portrays Vladimir Putin as he rises to prominence during this turbulent period, while Alicia Vikander and Zach Galifianakis also feature in the film. Blending political drama, ambition and intrigue, the film is available for the audience on Zee 5.
2. Normal [Zee 5]
Starring Bob Odenkirk as Ulysses, Normal follows a troubled lawman who arrives in a quiet Midwestern town as its provisional sheriff. What appears to be a temporary posting takes a dangerous turn when a bank robbery exposes secrets buried beneath the town’s seemingly peaceful surface. With Henry Winkler as the influential mayor and Lena Headey as a local bar owner, the film combines crime, dark comedy, mystery and action. Normal is streaming on Zee 5 following its September OTT release.
3. The Runner [Amazon Prime Video]
The Runner stars Gal Gadot as Maia, a high-powered attorney whose life changes when her son is abducted and she receives cryptic instructions from a mysterious caller. Forced to race across London while trying to locate her son, Maia must follow the clues while uncovering the truth behind his disappearance. Damian Lewis and Alfred Enoch also feature in the action thriller, which combines a race against time with mystery and high-stakes suspense.
4. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy [JioHotstar]
Lee Cronin’s reimagining of The Mummy takes the story in a darker and more personal direction. The film follows journalist Charlie Cannon, played by Jack Reynor, whose young daughter Katie mysteriously disappears from their home in Cairo. Eight years later, Katie is discovered alive inside an ancient sarcophagus, but her return quickly turns into a terrifying nightmare for the family. Also starring Laia Costa and May Calamawy, the film combines family drama, mystery, possession and body horror and is now available on the platform for the audience.
5. Unabomber [Netflix]
Inspired by true events, Unabomber explores Ted Kaczynski’s journey from a gifted young student to the man at the centre of one of the FBI’s most extensive investigations. Jacob Tremblay plays the young Kaczynski, while Russell Crowe portrays Harvard professor Henry Murray, and Shailene Woodley also stars. Moving between Kaczynski’s early years and the eventual hunt to identify and capture the Unabomber, the film offers a gripping look at the person behind the infamous case.
From political power struggles and small-town mysteries to kidnappings, supernatural horror, and a real-life investigation, these five Hollywood releases offer plenty of gripping viewing to catch before September comes to an end.
