Aamir Khan’s recent hit Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his iconic Taare Zameen Par, became a massive box office success and the year’s most-loved film. The film’s inspiring storyline, heartwarming message, and powerful performances resonated with audiences across the globe. Alongside Aamir, the film introduced 10 young debutants, marking their entry into cinema under the Aamir Khan Productions banner. Aamir played a basketball coach in the film and delivered a remarkable performance that earned widespread acclaim.

However, in a past interview, Aamir revealed that he wasn’t the original choice for the role. Surprisingly, filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar was first approached for the role. “Farhan was supposed to do it actually. What happened was that when Laal Singh Chaddha didn’t do well, I was emotionally upset, I was broken, actually. So I thought I needed a break, I would take a break and not do a film for a while,” said Aamir in an interview.

Aamir spoke to director R. S. Prasanna and decided to only produce the film. However, he revealed that later during the script reading sessions, as they discussed and refined each scene, he kept thinking, “This script is so good, why is he not acting in it?”—and that’s when he decided to take up the role.

Aamir Khan Productions proudly presented 10 rising stars: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Directed by R. S. Prasanna, who previously helmed the barrier-breaking blockbuster Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, has returned with the biggest collaboration with Aamir Khan Productions’ Sitaare Zameen Par.
