Dhanush is a popular name in the south industry.

The actor started out small and got films thanks to his director brother Selvaraghavan. But today, he is a well-known name across all film industries.

Today, we list down his best 5 movies.

Kaadhal Kondein: Dhanush’s breakthrough came with his second film, which was the thriller ‘Kaadhal Kondein’. Dhanush delivered a gem of a performance as Vinod, a silent, eccentric, bespectacled guy who looks quite harmless. However, he turns out to be a psychopath and he goes to extremes to woo his lady love.

Aadukalam: 2011 Tamil drama took Dhanush and director Vetrimaaran to new heights. ‘Aadukalam’ deals with a unique theme of rooster fighting that is prevalent in rural parts of Tamil Nadu. It is no wonder that the actor won a National Award for this film.

Vellailla Pattadhaari: The comedy-drama is one of the biggest commercial successes of Dhanush’s career. He plays Raghuvaran, an unemployed civil engineer who is determined to get a job in his core field of interest. ‘VIP’ is definitely the proverbial feather in Dhanush’s cap.

Maryan: Dhanush gave a top-notch performance in Maryan. This film would have been incomplete without an actor like Dhanush, as there are many instances where he emotes with his expressions alone. The way he portrays the love and the pain of his character, especially when he gets trapped in a terrorist gang, proved his acting ability once again.

Mayakkam Enna: The film remains one of the underrated works of both Dhanush and Selva. ‘Mayakkam Enna’ tells the story of Karthik (Dhanush), a passionate photographer and his struggles getting a break. Things turn dramatic after Karthik falls in love with his friend’s girlfriend Yamini (Richa Gangopadhyay). Upon release, ‘Mayakkam Enna’ opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
