In the past, Karan has stated that Tina’s role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was initially intended for Twinkle Khanna and that he was saddened when she declined to participate in the film. Twinkle expressed sorrow for not being a part of the film as it reached its 20th anniversary, stating that she regrets not being a part of it now that she sees the impact it has on people today. However, she stated that if she had been in the film, it might not have worked.
