There are a lot of Superstars in the South who have gotten equally popular in Bollywood. The biggest examples of these have to be Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. Well, this domination of both the South and Bollywood has not been achieved by the younger generation stars in the South. It is a pity to say that whenever a few of them have attempted to raise their level in Bollywood, they have miserably failed. The latest debacle of Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger has forced us to write this. So let us take a look at a few of the South biggies not able to make a mark in Bollywood. A report on timesofindia.com talked about this and we take reference from that story for our write up here.

In 2013, Ram Charan marked his debut in Bollywood with ‘Zanjeer’. The film was released in Telugu as ‘Toofan’ and featured Priyanka Chopra as the leading lady. This entertainer was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic film by the same name and despite all the star power, ‘Zanjeer’ failed to work its magic at the box office.

Vijay Deverakonda starter film ‘Liger’, which was helmed by Puri Jagannadh was expected to do mightily well. The actor had worked hard for his Bollywood debut, which was released post the pandemic. The movie looked promising from the posters and Vijay’s chemistry with Ananya Panday was also shipped by fans. But ‘Liger’ fell flat at the box office, all the popularity failed to translate into numbers.

Fresh off the success of ‘Baahubali’, Prabhas plunged into the shoot of his maiden Bollywood venture ‘Saaho’. Helmed by Sujeeth, this action thriller presented Prabhas in a completely different avatar. Shraddha Kapoor essayed the lead in this entertainer opposite Prabhas. Made on a grand budget, ‘Saaho’ opened to poor reviews and failed to recreate the success of ‘Baahubali’.

What is your take on this inference? Do you think they will bounce back to create magic in Bollywood too?
