Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt, and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali made a massive success at the box office. The film is said to be bringing back the old lost shine of Bollywood, as it earned a whopping at the box office. The film is based on the life of the s*x worker Gangubai Harjeevandas better known as Gangubai Kothewali, who was an activist, prostitute and madam of a brothel in the Kamathipura during the 1960s. She worked for the s*x workers and their rights.
Alia Bhatt brilliantly portraying the strong lady in the film, gave us goosebumps with her impeccable acting skills. That being said, in one of the scenes when her ‘best friend’ dies after giving birth to her child, we could hear Alia Bhatt asking the other s*x workers of her brothel to tie her legs tightly so that no man can rape her dead body. Now, this has triggered the netizens all across the country, while there are men taking offence at it, others came out to give them a reality check on Twitter.

For those who don’t know, Gangubai Kathiawadi came from a reputed family of barristers. However, at the very young age of 16, she ran away from her home with her lover, who was her father’s accountant at that point in time. It is said, that her boyfriend brought her to Mumbai convincing her that he will help her become an actress, however, forced her into prostitution selling her to a brothel in Kamathipura.
